We are here to hang out, to have some fun, to play NHL and get warmed up for a little Vancouver, Knux, Nashville Predators action. It's going to be a tight game once again. I imagine that the Knux and Preds are going to be tight every game of this series, they're two very close teams. It was great to see as much as I'm rooting for the Preds because that's who I picked in my bracket, it was great to see for the sake of the home fan. Sometimes sports is just about like, Hey, the home fans, you get this one.

[00:09:59]

You deserve this For the sake of Vancouver playoff hockey being back with fans in the building, I was very happy to see them pull out that win. And Dakota Joshua, how can you not root for that guy? Personally, on my level, I picked him up in fantasy, so I've been rooting for him all season long because he's been on my fantasy team. But just for the guy in real life, you got to root for him for being such a late round pick, sixth round draft pick, just all around the NHL. I think he's 28 right now, 28, 27, and now is his breakout year. It's been unreal to watch. I'm rooting for him, so go Knux for first game. I hope the preds take the series so that my pick is correct. That's just me personally. But We're here right now. Where is the jersey that inspired the title? Doug Leefhan. Story about Doug Leefann. Round of applause for him. Doug Lee fan sent me a jersey. Correct me if I'm wrong, Doug Lee fan, but I have a jersey that is the... What is it? It was the reverse retro from 2022, '21. And on the back, it says, One Since, and then the number on it is '67.

[00:11:21]

It's a beautiful jersey. Demko is injured. Great point, Leef Nation fan in the YouTube chat. We are on YouTube and Twitch. This stream is always on YouTube and Twitch. In the YouTube chat right now, Demko is out. Demko is injured, says, leafnationfan. Yeah, I Casey De Smith has held his own while Demko was out. They clearly weren't as good because Demko can be otherworldly, and Casey De Smith hasn't proven to be that just yet. I think it's more likely. The odds are very much tilted in the preds' favor now that Demko's out. And there's now a built-in excuse for Knux fans and Knux players if they end up losing the series. It's like, We didn't have Demko. We should have won. So that's good for the sake of your psyche as a fan. You never want your team to get beat for no reason. I'm not wrong in this. As a fan, you always want there to be an excuse for why you didn't win. And there's an excuse right there if they don't pull this out. So that's a good I guess that they get that excuse, but it's going to be real tough now that they don't have Demko to win this series.

[00:12:36]

Casey Dismith, we'll see what he can do. He's done it before in the playoffs as a filling, so I don't know. It's going to be a great game today. So stick around through this to watch Adam Wild stream that game and chit chat with you all. Adam does a lot more just chatting. If you're a fan of Twitch, they have a category called just chatting for streamers where they just sit and they just chat like what we're doing right now. I Adam's streams are a lot more just chatting than Steve's streams, where Steve does a lot of play by play, and he'll be watching the game a lot. Adam, he's more reacting to the game. He'll do a lot of, Oh, as opposed to actually describing the play. So if you like that, if you like a little history lessons, he'll give you History Corner. He'll talk about the George Vancouver. They talked about on Monday night was game one. No, today's Tuesday. So it would have been Sunday. Sunday was game one. They were chit-chatting about George Vancouver. A lot of interaction. If you want to buy some super chats and ask him some questions, he'll get to them, and there'll just be a lot of chit-chatting about life and about hockey and about a lot of fun stuff.

[00:13:47]

So hang out for that. It's a good time. It's late into the night if you're on the East Coast or on the West Coast, a little better. And the game's on. You're watching it anyways. Why not watch it with Adam Wild? So what we're doing here right now to catch anybody up who if you're not familiar with this series, if you're not familiar with these streams, I'm going to let you know that we got a lot of dancing animals. We got a lot of dancing animals that hop up on the screen when good things happen, and they do their thing. They do their little boogies, and they dance. And what's happening here is we have a series called One Since '67. It is my quest and your quest as my AGM to win one single stand Stanley Cup for the Toronto Maple Lefs since 1967. And there are certain rules to our quest to win a Stanley Cup. First of all, it's franchise mode in NHL 24. We started with the rosters set as of October 20th, so beginning of the year rosters, that's what we kick their off with. And we don't play any games.

[00:14:50]

We simulate games during the playoffs. We do all event sims. We watch the game sevens, the elimination games. We watch those. We watch every Stanley Cup final game. If we ever make it to a Stanley Cup final. So far, we are in the off-season of year one. As you can see on the screen, it is currently in our fake world. June 21st, 2024. We played through the first season of our career as general manager and AGM. And in our first season, we made a lot of trades. I'll bring up the roster for you here. We made a lot of different moves. We acquired a man by the name of Caden Gouly. We acquired... Oh, I actually can't bring up the lines because we're in the off-season, but I can show you our contracts. We traded away We traded away Max Domi. We traded away Tyler Bertuzzi. We traded away John Tavares. And we acquired some players like Mason McTavish, like Matias Masele, like Cam York, like nick Paul, all guys who showed up, like Brock Faber, all guys who showed up big for us in the playoffs, a couple of those guys. Jake Nabour is also a prospect we stole.

[00:16:03]

So we also resigned William Nylander, as you have to do during the offseason. We signed him for $10 million flat, and now we're looking to maybe possibly move off of Mitch Marner and his $10.5 million contract, but that's a pretty good contract for a 94 overall player. So we are into the retirement portion of the offseason. We're going to see who retired, who is out of the game, and then we're We are going to go to the draft, and then we are going to go to free agency, and then we're going to kick off next season, and then we're going to simulate through a bit of next season. And by that time rolls around, we're probably going to be ready for Adam Wild to take over this stream. Let's get into it. Let's do it. Any questions? Jackson Lee said, Am I late? Jackson, no. Jackson, you haven't missed a thing. Thank you for being here, Jackson. Here's a little music for Jackson. Let's get this going. Let's see who retired. We are in episode number 4 of our franchise mode. We are dancing. The animals haven't been out enough. Retirement on the board. Let's see who has retired from the NHL.

[00:17:26]

All right, view retired players. Welcome, Jackson. All right. Jakub Borchek, Shay Webber. That makes sense. Shay Webber hasn't played in a while. Brian Little, Brent Seabrook, Anton Straumann, Justin Abdelkater, Derrick Ryan, Leo Komarow, Uncle Leo out of the game. And then we're getting to a lot of names that nobody needs to acknowledge has retired. Let's check the goalies. No goalies. Retire. Wow. Okay. No goalie retirements. These are the bigger names that retired. As I said, it will start by games played even. Seabrook, Borchek, Webber, Straumann, Little, Advocator, Bell. But Pierre Edward Belmar. Done. And that's it. All right. Moving on. Coach retirement. Anybody in our organization doesn't appear so... No. Nobody in our organization, nothing we need to worry about in terms of coach retirements. Retired players that are now a scout. Brent Seabrooke is now a scout. That's cool. Continue simming. Draft Day interviews are useless. If you play this game, you know Draft Day interviews are useless. One thing we're going to do here is take a look at what we need to do with our roster. With our roster here, we have our handy dandy, very good to us, Assistant General Manager.

[00:19:02]

You guys are the AGM1s. These are the AGM2s. Our whiteboard. And on the whiteboard, where's my little marker? Here we go. Whiteboard, I was working out our defense core. So we got our defense here. On the right side, what we need help with is a free agent number one defenseman. We need a number one defenseman here. This says our lefty, Morgan Reilly, Caden Gouly, Kam York, Timothée Lilligran, Mr. Jake McCabe. Extras, Benoît, and now we have Brock Faber. Brock Faber as well. So Brock Faber is probably going to slot in somewhere here as well. But what I really want to do is get a number one right-handed defenseman. We need that. We got to get it. We will get it this offseason. And that'll open us up for slotting him in here. He's going to be there. Perfect. And then we're going to have a free square for Benoît, Faber. We can definitely move off of... Who did I pick up off of the UFA wire that I definitely should have... Brett Coolack. We have Brett Coolack as well. So I'm going to put Coolack here, and we can trade one of these or two of these three for Assets.

[00:20:23]

I just wrote Ass. So we're Assets. I don't swear here. That's his short form for Assets. All All right, that's what we're doing with our defense. In the forward group, the forward group is a lot more easier. We don't need the whiteboard. We don't need any special markers for that one. On the forward group, what we need to do here is just get a bunch of wingers. That's all we're short with. A lot of people in the chat are talking about the pizza box. You guys want to see the pizza box? Because I haven't forgot about the pizza box. If you have been here for a while, shout out the crowd people that have been here forever. We have been using pizza box since when I first started streaming in the summer of 2021. So it's been nearly three years now. I used to use a pizza box for the lines for what I just did there. I haven't gotten rid of that OG pizza box. You want me to prove it to you? I have it right at my feet because I thought you might bring it up when I talked about the whiteboard.

[00:21:24]

The pizza box exists. It has not gone anywhere. It still has our lines from our last stream. If you can see, you can see it there. All of our old rosters are still on it, and I haven't gotten rid of anything. So I always tape over the last stuff. So they're all on there, and the OG Pizza Box is still here. Good times, good memories. I guess for next episode, because all of you still love the Pizza Box, yes, Lucas Raymond is on the Pizza Box. Because you all love the Pizza Box, I'll tape it over and we'll use again for the next stream. I brought out the whiteboard because I thought it'd be easier. I thought the whiteboard would be easier, but the Pizza Box seemed to be a team favorite. We will rehire the Pizza Box to our organization because the fans want it and the fans run the team. So we'll resign the Pizza Box. We'll bring them back for next episode. I'll tape it over with some fresh paper, and we'll get all of our lines set on Mr. Pizza Box. We had some HR violations, if you remember, back in the day with the Pizza Box.

[00:22:30]

Pizza Box went a little far at times, but we solved all those. We're good. Let's do this thing. So as I was mentioning, our forward group. Our forward group needs to be tweaked a little We need some help on the outer edges of the group, because when we get down to our third and fourth lines, we need to figure out the edges of the wingers. Somebody said Timmins for Makar. Seems fair. I think we go after a name like Hale Makar. We have to be able to package something and get a top-name defenseman back. All right. So that's what we're doing. Headed into the draft. Remember, we got to move Brett Kulak. I think he's a useless piece, and we can really use him to get something good here. Okay, draft class. View, draft class. I'm fairly decent at the draft, I find. What my specialty is. Okay, so there's nobody really crazy to go after. My specialty used to just be doing the gems and going to get a bunch of gems. And that would be my trick. And now we only got two gems. They're both... One's one overall. The second is eighth.

[00:23:53]

Maybe we can sneak up to eighth in the draft. I don't know. We have a first-round pick, but it's not a great first-round pick. Let's see if we can package maybe We move up, maybe some future picks, try and get to that eighth pick and get that gem. Get over to the draft. Maybe we can move off of Brett Kulak, trade up, see what we can do. They want us to edit our trade block. Beacher, no. Remove asset. Kressler, no. No. I want NHL roster players with bad salaries that we can move off of. So we're going to throw out Brett Kulak. Definitely, we're going to put up... Morgan Reilly makes so little for an 88 overall. That's a good deal. As much as I hate his performance in game seven against the New York Rangers, if anybody was there for last time, you watched Morgan Reilly have a complete meltdown disaster game. Despite all that, his contract That's really good. So we'll hang on to Morgan. Nobody else here. No other big contract. I think the main focus here needs to be moving off of Brett Kulak. And like I said, the defenseman that we have extra, it's going to be Benwa.

[00:25:15]

And what does Benwa make? Benwa makes nothing, right? Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Benwa makes 775. It's not even worth it. You'd rather just keep the asset. So we're going to go up here. We're going to check the Yeah, Kamwork is 1.6 next year. Mckeeve is 1.8. All right. For funsies, to add to our trade block, Mitch Marner. Just for fun, for little giggles. We're really quirky. We have Mitch Marner on the Trade blog. That's crazy. So let's see what happens. His morale is going down, but we'll see what happens. Let's see if we can get up to the eighth pick. If we don't get up to the eighth pick, I might even move back to next year's draft. Ottawa has got eight. They got two there. We have 17. That's actually not too bad. So if we can get this gem from Ottawa. Okay, so fine trade. Let's see what we got here. So if we go our draft pick. Ad asset, fine trade. No trade is found for our first overall I pick. Okay. Boo. Coolack. Trade Marner for number one. Marner for first pick. I thought... Yeah. You thought... I thought... Cj says, I thought he was planning on moving off Reilly.

[00:26:48]

No, it's like Reilly sucked. One game doesn't make a career, if I'm being honest. One game doesn't make a career. We can't move off a Reilly for the one game. He sucked hard, but we can't trade him just for that one game just because he cost us the series. Because honestly, he did, and I hate it, but we can't move off of Reilly because he sucked. We got to give him another chance. Reilly can get to prove that he's worth it next season. His contract's too good. It would be a complete waste to move Morgan Reilly at this point. Maybe later in the future, but not right now. Let's see what's up. First round pick. So we got the 17th 17th in Kulak. I don't even want to do Kulak right now because Kulak can fetch us a third. If you saw those trades, I was talking through it. But Kulak could fetch us a third. So if we went for a first in a six and a seven, does that move us up 10 spots? Trade rejected. Okay. Move off of that. Let's get Kulak in here. He's worth a third round pick. And they want him.

[00:27:57]

That's good. Kulak in the first to move up to seventh. Trade rejected. All right. Let's add something here. Draft picks. We're not moving that second. Let's get that sixth in there. Trade rejected. Let's try and get that seventh. This might not be possible. Trade rejected. All right. Kulak, the 17th, and a fifth. Rejected. We're only going to a fourth. I think a third is a little rich. Rejected. Let's try the fourth, and I'll add the... I could have just done this at one time, but whatever. The fourth and the fifth. No. All right. What if we even move back one to the eighth pick? So if we go... Actually, let me try and find a trade for the Kulak and first. So if we go Kulak and the 17th. No trades found. That's annoying. Okay. Let's remove Prove. Somebody drafted. Oh, wow. That's a great first overall pick. Bryland. Bryland is a 80 overall winger. Beauty. Cancel, cancel, cancel. Fine trade. Mccann off of Seattle. Kulak, a first and a fourth. Did I trade Nicky Bob. No. Nicky Bob is still on the roster. What were we doing? Oh, I was moving back. I was trying to trade for the...

[00:29:57]

It always kicks you out when you're there. Let's try to get the ninth from Buffalo. Well, I'm just hoping that the gem that's available that's supposed to go in this area is still available. So we will see. Let's try the eighth. I don't like... So we got a suggestion here. We don't have a good name. Marner for the eighth overall, plus use Capspace to bolster defense and free agency. Realistic if you get an elite potential forward back anyways. Yeah, it's not... I'm so hesitant to move off of Marner. It It makes a lot of sense to do it if we want to use that on a defenseman, but I'm afraid we're taking too much away from the offense. The first and the fourth. Can we try this? This is the eighth. We move back a pick. Trade rejected. I don't think we can get this done here. I might concede to... We can't move up to eighth overall. The 17th overall pick, I don't even want it. I'd I'd love to trade it for a next year's pick. Do we punt this asset? So Arizona was last, right? So should we punt So we went this pick to next year.

[00:31:17]

So we take their 2025... Oh, my gosh, they have so many draft pick. Their 2025 first, and we just swap. And maybe we get Like a third thrown in there? Would they give us a second? Oh, our second? I don't want that. We're going to be good. Their third. And then we just move back in the draft? No. Should we just... I'm on just swap. Lee Kahneman says, Could you trade Marner for Faber plus a D? We We have Faber. We already have them. We did it. Trade rejected. All right, maybe we just end up taking the 17th overall pick. I'm going to try and get... I'm going to go one more time, one more time getting the pick from Ottawa. If this time, whatever we add doesn't work, eighth overall pick, 17th, how high are we going? What prospects can we do? Trade value. Oh, somebody picked something. Let's go back. Eighth overall pick, trade for pick. What prospect is in there that's of value? This is our last shot. This is my last shot. If this doesn't come through, I'm just taking the draft pick, 17th overall. Screw it. So Brad Lambert, no.

[00:32:56]

We just picked him up. He's too good. Timmins? Timmins is an option. I got to shift over a little. The computer is blocking the TV. Okay, so Kulak is here. That's the bar. We're going to add them. Kulak is the bar. Everything above needs to be more valuable. Right now, I'm thinking, is it nick Robertson we throw in there? Is it Matthew Nies? Because we're getting the prospect back, right? So if we move Matthew Nies, it's like a lateral move. Not really worth it. Callie Yarncroke, because we could always just sign a free agent who makes that amount of... Who has that overall. Nick Paul, who's been excellent for us, but $3.1 million for an '83 overall. We get something young, we go sign somebody anyways. I'm thinking maybe we just throw nick Paul into the deal. We get that overall pick. Maybe we even move higher up in the draft. Okay, Ottawa has too many players. So we take off nick Paul, this gets it done, and then we just go sign somebody in free agency who's in 83 overall. 83 overall forward. Yeah. So Carter nailed it. The thing about Calleigh Yonkirk is he only makes a mil.

[00:34:36]

Trade nick Paul, who makes 3.183. We move up to eighth overall. We can probably move higher with this deal. Look how much trade value we have. Let's go try and get a higher pick. Let's go guarantee we get this gem because the gems turn out to be like superstars, and I really want this gem. Let's see. Let's view draft classes. Make sure we have them. The gem here is... I got to get this right. Tarek Parasack is what I'm going to call him. Tarek Parisack. Tarek Parisack is going to be an elite winger for this team for years to come. Hopefully, we draft him. He's like a 79 overall, elite potential. Scout rank is eight. Previous current rank is 10. Let's try and get this sixth overall pick from the Sharks, nick Paul, and this pick, just so we can guarantee to get this gem. Maybe we can even get a pick back as well. I'm thinking we go greedy. We try and get this first. Trade rejected. Okay. So second round pick. No. How greedy can we get? Here's the second. No. The fourth, maybe. From Vegas. Trade Rejected. We might just have to just move up for nick Paul.

[00:36:22]

So what we're essentially trading is nick Paul for this Tarek Parasack. If If we can move up here. Nick Paul for Tarek Parisack. Trade rejected. Let's move back. We're going to the seventh. Let's try Ottawa seventh again. Let's see if they want nick Paul this time. Where is he? Unlike San Jose, who wanted the player, Ottawa does not, which makes things a little more tricky. But nick Paul for Tarek Parasack. Trade rejected. Oh. Let's move back again. Let's try the eighth. Trade rejected. Dang. Again. Chat, I need some suggestions. A 6, 7, the first, the nick Paul? Are we adding Kulak back? So if we add Kulak, then we got to take a player from the sends because they don't have enough room. So let's do this. When did Holland become GM of the leaves? Yeah, so let's try and take an expiry contract. Perfect. That makes a lot of sense. Let's take a Jake Sanderson. Here we go. Let's take this deal right here. This is perfect. There's a player from the organization. Cool act, Paul. Oh, baby. We're free to have $5 million dollars in cap space. Over $5.8 million. $4.9 million dollars.

[00:38:36]

4.9 million dollars in cap space. It keeps going up. That's a lot. I think this is it. Trade rejected. I swear, Ottawa. Ottawa, I swear. There. Another pick has gone by. Uh-oh, they took Dickinson. Sam Dickinson. They're on the flyers. Do we try and go... I don't think we can risk going to the ninth pick to Buffalo. Maybe if we trade up to the nine, it'll be easier just to swap to eight. Is that... Oh, Try San Jose again with Kulak. That's a great idea. We didn't try San Jose with Kulak. Oh, cancel. We didn't try San Jose with Kulak. Let's do this. Where is he? Where is he? Did I pass him already? Okay. Kulak. Nick Paul, who's been huge for us, but we want Tarek Parisack in the 17th. Finish. We're freeing up a lot of cat space. San Jose, too many people in the organization. Let's get one of their debt players, somebody who means nothing. Years left. Make sure it's one. Radam Simic. This is even better. Mr. Carpenter. Is that Ryan Carpenter? It is Ryan Carpenter. All right. Here we go. Brett Kulak, nick Paul, 17th overall pick to get Tarek.

[00:40:42]

Or, yeah, Tarek. Let's go. Rejected. They want all those assets. What did they... Oh, my goodness. What more can I do for you? Here's the seventh. You want these assets. I swear. We're going to add the sixth as well. Look at the trade values. It's right there for you. It's right there. Trade rejected. I'm not giving up all of this. Here's a fourth. Okay, let's do a fifth. We'll work our way up. A fifth. Trade rejected. A fourth. Trade rejected. A third. This is it. This is where I draw the line. A third. Great idea from the chat. Eric says... Eric, shout out you, Eric. Great idea. We are going to reverse find a trade. We're reverse finding a trade. We're running our time here. We're running. We have three minutes on the clock. We're going to reverse find a trade, and we are going to make this happen. I swear. San Jose, the pick is on the board right now. Can we steal it? No trades found. Oh, my goodness. We're off to Ottawa because we're running out of time. Let's do this again. No trades. We don't have anything that can make this work?

[00:42:53]

No trades found. Buffalo. We're going to Buffalo. We're going to nine. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Buffalo. Nine. No trades found. Who's at 10? St. Louis, find a trade. No trades found. My goodness. I'm so upset. Ottawa is going to get this kid Ottawa is going to get this kid, and he's going to haunt our nightmares. You know how hard we're trying right now? Last shot. We have a couple of minutes. Like, Who said, Jessie, just make it happen, move anything? We tried nick Paul, so we got as high as this. We're not moving Mateus Masele. 3.7, 5. 3.7, 3, 5, three years, Mateus... What do you call him? Mason? Mateus Masele, He's been exceptional. He's going to grow. He's going to get even better. We can't move that contract at that price at that overall. It's not worth it. We're essentially trading laterally for somebody who's not going to be as good in a couple of years. We can't do Mason-McTavish. He's 21. He's 85 overall. We can't move any of these guys because it's not worth it. Nick Paul, we can't move Calleigh Yarncrowke. He's too cheap. Kompf? Maybe we do Kompf and Paul instead of Kulak, because Kulak is all the way down here.

[00:45:05]

So the second piece of this, if we upgrade the second piece. So if we do Kompf... Oh, crap. San Jose made it. Okay. Still, nobody's taking our boy. Nobody's taking our boy yet. We got a couple of minutes left. Try Paul Lillegren in a Hyde pick. Warrior Wamp. Warrior No, we are not doing Marner for this pick. That's bad GMing. We are going to try, however, nick Paul, David Kamp. Draft pick, 17th overall. Draft pick, sixth overall. Draft pick, seventh overall. Boom. Package delivered, Amazon order placed, one day shipping. Ottawa, ball is in your court. Package is on your front porch. What do you want? We'll take back a contract to make everything square. I'm telling you, this is a great deal. If Pierre Dorian was still there, this deal would have been done years ago. We We'll take Heatherington. We will take Dylan Heatherington off of your hands in this deal just to square up the players in the organization. You get nick Paul David Kamp, the 17th, a sixth, a seventh. All we want is the eighth overall pick. Ottawa, please. Yes, let's go. Let's go. Now, what needs to happen here? They can't take our boy with this seventh pick.

[00:47:16]

If they take our kid with the seventh overall pick, we are absolutely screwed. We need Derek Parisack to go one more Our pick. Everybody, I need you right now just to pray. We're all coming together. Just focus all of your energy right now. There's 40 seconds left. Ottawa can't take Tarek Parasack. If they take our boy, this whole thing is screwed, and we're going to look so stupid. We just need to hold on for dear life. 20 seconds left. Clench your butt cheeks. It's getting tense. 15 seconds. Are they going to pick our boy? Tiga Gindler. Let's go. We got him. We got him. Tarek, welcome to the Toronto Maple leaves. Tarek Parisack, everybody. It's a Toronto Maple leaves. Let's make the draft pick official. Let's go. Seventy-one overall. We got an elite player. That is the key. We got an elite gem. He's a Seventy-one overall, which is a little disappointing, but we got the future star right winger of the Toronto Mapleies. That is the whole point. A cornerstone of this franchise as Carter said, he is a sniper. Does he have X-Factor players type sniper? That is huge. He doesn't have any X-Factor.

[00:49:09]

No, not yet. The only players in the draft with an X-Factor... No. So X-Factor, Breyland had an X-Factor. Kholzenik had an X-Factor. Berkley Caden. Those are the only players with X-Factor, the top two. So no X-Factor, but we expect Tarek Parisack to be a cornerstone of this franchise for a long time. Yes, the shot is crazy. Already, already, 86, 82, 85 on the power accuracy and power on the shot. The kid's going to be an elite goal scorer for years to come. Look at the acceleration and agility, the speed. I think by the end of year one of him in our system, he's going to be like an 80 overall. I think next season, Parasack's on the team, and that is a beautiful thing. All right, we're simming to the rest of the draft. We don't have any more draft picks. That was it. We had one pick in this draft. Let's go. Maclin Celabrini, not in this draft. Bryland is, I think, the Maclin Celabrini creative character. If I'm If I have that correct. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Or if that's a real prospect because they do have some of the real prospects.

[00:50:37]

Like Tig. Tig is a senator. All right, let's go. Let's go to a free agency. We moved off of nick Paul. We moved off of David Komp. We have a lot more work that we need to do now that we made those trades for Tarek. But I think protecting the future of the franchise is an important thing. That's where the draft comes in handy. I never want a offseason to go by where we don't get the gem in the draft. That's how we're going to be running this franchise. I want the gems because there's a potential that you get somebody who's a superstar potential, and that sets you up in such a great position if you nail that and they're a superstar, and they're making 900 grand for the first three years of the contract, you get them on your organization forever because you can't trade for those guys unless you're moving a franchise player in return. So free agents. Terry Parisack, we're going to leave him. He's going to play in the We're not even going to bring him to the organization yet. We're not going to start that clock on his contract. Let's look at all of these guys who are RFAs.

[00:51:40]

Benoît, qualify. Yup. Awesome. Gregor, qualify. Yup. Easy. Lilligren. Qualify. Yup. Easy. Nick Robertson, qualify. Yup. Easy. Alex Steves. Sure. Why not? Marlies need players, too. We have a lot of roster spots that are going to... Kyle Clifford. Heatherington, We I need you. Release. William Laguison. Alan Walsh. How much you want? I am on the other side of a negotiation with Alan Walsh. He wants... Oh, no. A one-way contract? No, a two-way contract. The max two-way, I will offer you William Laguison. You're 28 and a 77 overall. You're not getting more than that. Offer. Cool. Bobby McMahon. Bobby McMahon in the game is not Bobby McMahon in real life. Because we started at the beginning of the season, he has not updated. His overall isn't updated, unfortunately, but is what it is. So we have that right there. Oh, goalies. Martin Jones, Matt Murray. By Matt Murray. Don't even have to take a second look at that. Keith Petrazzelli, AHL starter is his potential. I guess you need an AHL starter, so we'll qualify him. That's fine. Hildebit. We got Samson off as a starter. Joseph Wall as the backup. Martin Jones could probably be released.

[00:53:32]

2.3 million dollars. No. We're going to release him. We're going to run with Samson off in Wall, 86 and 80. I'm happy with that. Let's just sign some AHL goalies because Martin Jones wants a one contract. If he wants a two-way, you can have a two-way, but I'm just going to release them, not even try to do the negotiations. Bye, Martin Jones. Somebody remind me that we need a goalie in free agency. Eat Petrozzelli, he ain't going to grow. So last decision. Bobby McMahon, he's not getting any better. He's 73 overall. There's no real point in wasting a roster spot on a 28-year-old who's not going to get better. We have to release him. I'm not going to give Parisack a contract. I'm going to leave him to mature for one year. So if we don't offer him a contract, he's still in our organization, and he's just going to play in the O for a season. Next offseason, we'll bring Parisack to the Marlies, hopefully the Lefs, and he'll play with us. But we're going to leave him for a season. Because he's a '71 overall. There's no point right now in giving him anything.

[00:54:42]

Dylan Gambrel, if he wants a two-way, we'll bring him back Perfect. Dylan Gambrale, that's a perfect depth. Yep, that's awesome. Mr. Luzowski, Brandon, we are going to release. And Kyle Phil Clifford, unfortunately, released as well. Then we got two RFA decisions. Max Lajoie, does he want to offer contracts? Does he want a two-way? He wants a one-way contract. So we're not going to offer him that. We're going to qualify his RFA rights. And then Max Ellis. Tough decision, not so tough. We're going to release him? No, he's 24. Rfa. We'll qualify him. There we go. We have done Our work here. Let's see if we can sign anybody the next day that goes by. If you are just tuning in or if you're tuning in halfway, this is our NHL 24 franchise mode, Toronto Maple East. We call it One Since '67. We are trying to win a Stanley Cup, the first one since 1967 for the Toronto Maple East. We are in year one. We We lost in the second round to the New York Rangers. We blew a 3-1 lead in the playoffs. It was quite the scenes. If you were not seeing these episodes, you can go back.

[00:56:10]

Click the link in the description right now. There's a playlist to watch every previous episode. William Laguison, we have to release him. Dylan Gambrouh resigns. Hell, yeah. Go back. If you haven't seen it, it was quite the adventure last episode, blowing a three series lead to the New York Rangers, and then blowing a game seven. Not fun, not what you want to do, but it was so Toronto, Maple Leaves. All right, so we are Oops, what do we have here? Where did we just go? William Laguison, bye. Sorry, Allen. I'm sorry, I have to do this to you. We cannot bring back William Laguison, released. Everybody else is tendered. Hey, nick. Shout out, nick. Here we go. Nick super chats. Nick, you get some confetti. You get to bring out the animals. That goat He's slow-mo. Sheep? Sorry. Not goat. Sheep. He's lagging. Did you ever see the lag on this dancing sheep? He's half the speed he should be. All right. Nick writes in a super chat, Thank you. I appreciate the super chat. That confetti was for you on our YouTube chat because we are on YouTube and Twitch. Hey, Jessie, new to the stream.

[00:57:41]

Do you check the takeaways and giveaways when scouting players? Very helpful. Nick, long and short of that, no. Usually when I'm scouting the players that we want to pick up, I'm looking for value of overall and their contracts. I'm trying to build the best collection of guys. I don't really look at the individual players and their stats unless it's the draft mix, like what we just had with Tarek, where Tarek is like, the scouts put him as a gem. We drafted him. The shooting is incredible. We saw that with the overalls. When I'm going for actual players in the league, I'm just trying to collect the most amount of young, cheap talent that I can because that's how you can maximize the salary cap and just build a whole roster of all-stars. So with Mason McTavish, who We got midway through last season. I went, and Mason McTavish is very cheap. His overall is in 85, and he's a centerman. Eighty-five centerman, 21 years old, and for next season, he's on a contract for under $900,000. Having your second-line center make under $900,000, but also be an 85 overall, that opens you up in so many different ways with the rest of your So when I'm trying to build the rosters, instead of looking at individual stats in terms of takeaways and giveaways, I look at just like, let's build the best collection of players.

[00:59:09]

So far, as everybody can attest, it has not resulted in a Stanley Cup. We have gone through many, many years of this sim, and it has not resulted in a Stanley Cup. So, nick, I will take into consideration what you are saying and possibly look at takeaways and giveaways. Thank you for the question, nick. I appreciate you. All right, next up, next day. I don't think we got any piece of business to do here. We've tendered, we've qualified all of our RFAs. Nobody else has left. This is the last day of free agency. Keith Petrozzelli, yeah, took the qualifying offer. Cool. Steve's did. Awesome. Max Ellis did. Awesome. And then the rest of them will follow suit. Last day before the resign phase, and we head over to free agency, all of those RFAs are going to come due. I'm not too worried about it. We have $21 million in cap space. Right now, the forward group. Let's look at our centers. Down the middle, we're going to be running Matthews, McTavish, Gregor, Robertson. Marleys, Gambrale, Minton, huge. Beacher, Steves. We traded for John Beacher after he scored against the Leaps on Saturday night. If you weren't here, hilarious ensued.

[01:00:41]

So we have a crazy center depth. Oh, my goodness. Easton Cowen's there. We're good on centers. Where we're lacking is wingers. So we have on our wingers, literally no one. Some of those centers, they'll turn into wingers. But on the left wingers, Maselle, Yarn Croke, Nabors, Nies. On the right side, Marner Matthews, Holmberg Reeves, Voight, Ellis, Parisack. So one day, Parisack is going to be that first line right wing. He's going to replace Mitch Marner when eventually, Mitch Marner leaves because he's making too much. And we don't like players who make too much. But on our defense here, we have Reilly York, Gouly, McCabe, Lillagrin, Faber, Kulak, Timmins, Benoît, Lojoie, Kukinen, Miamala, Rafei, Chadwick's not signed. So it's one... How much are we looking at? One, two, three, four, five, six. One, two, three, four, five, six. So we're going to need a couple more depthy. We're going to need a stud defenseman, which we're going to get in free agency, I promise you. And we're going to get a goalie as well. We might need Wolf, Sammie. So we need our AHL starter. That's what we need right now. Let's head over to free agency, my favorite part of this game.

[01:02:14]

Veto says, Love the streams. Don't forget to take into account players that have X factors in free agency. Veto, shout out you. That is actually That's actually a very big X factor when it comes to picking players in free agency. The game, it slanted towards players with X-Factor. In our Sims, if we have more players with X-Factor, it's going to help us. I 100 % agree, Veto. That's so true. And it's something we need to keep all of our eyes on is like, Hey, this young player has an X-Factor. Let's go after him. Let's try and sign him. First thing I love to look at what prospects slip through the cracks here. So we're going to go and sort by, what was it, two-way contracts, and then the potential. What's the best way to search this? Nobody elite there. Let's do all, and then sort by age. 19. Except the dollar sign, recently signed. Affordable. Let me see. Let me just sort by potential. I want to just see if there's any elite potential or top six potential players that have slipped through the cracks, and they need to be a UFA. Okay. Yeah. No, we got something here.

[01:04:07]

We got a couple. This is how we're going to fill out the Marlies here. 23-year-old there. That's pretty much it. Exact. Yeah. None of these are potential players. Okay. Okay, let's get back to the business here. We'll sign those in a bit. But right now, on the overall scale, is Brett Pesci our boy? Is Brett Pesci our big free agency The Acquisition this summer? Reilly Pesci? Everybody feeling Reilly Pesci? It looks like it's going to be reasonable, too. 5.4? 5.4 $1 million. We got Brett Pesci. I like it. I like it a lot. No X factors. Matt Dumba is out there, but video game Matt Dumba is better than real-life Matt Dumba. Right, defenseman. Brett Pesci is the best one. Chris Tanev, John Clingberg, we don't want him. We don't want that. Brett Pesci is the boy. Let's do it. Let's try it. Let's try. 29-year-old Brett Pesci, offer contract, 5.4, four years, two other teams interested, four times six. So we do four times 5.9. I'm going to do 5.9. Austin Matthews, who's not actually Austin Matthews, four years, five mil is not bad. He wants five point something. He's asking for 5.4. 5.5. I don't want to lose him.

[01:06:11]

No, you got to do six. Says Dung beetles. Let's try 5.9. Just under, the hair under. We get Reilly Pesci, our D solidified. Bump it up. Everybody's saying, Bump it up. Everybody's Everybody's saying six. All right, last call. Six or 5.9? Five years. If we go up a year, We could change the year. But no, that's the sweet spot. The four years is the sweet spot. Six all day, four years. Peshi should be your free agent target and the real-life leaves target this summer. Everybody's saying four years. We're stuck at four years. Four years is where we're going with. We're not doing anything else. You want him, don't you? Gravely. Oh, my goodness. Gravely in the Twitch chat. You want him, don't you? The threat. Don't threaten me. Oh, my goodness. Everybody's saying six. We'll do six. You guys are right. Offer contract, four years, six. We can actually lock him up for five years at six. I'll do that. Five years, six million dollars That gets us to his age 34 season, and then we can move on. I think paying our top two defensemen that much is perfect. Like, Reilly makes so little.

[01:07:56]

Peshe is going to make six million dollars. That's a great top two. Brock Faber is coming up. Caden Gouly is right there. Cam York is good. We are set on our defense if he takes that $6 million. So let's go get our AHL goalie. Who wants a two-way contract? Hey, look at this. Fringe starter. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. This is exactly what I'm looking for. These are the gems you find in free agency. Potential Fringe starter, 23-year-old. Give me three years. Two-way contract. I'll give you all the money. He wants a two years. I'm going to stick with two so we don't lose him. Yes. Yes. Colton Ellis. Beauty. That's our Marley starter. Is there anybody else in this same boat? Oh, Oliver Rodrieg. Yes. Let's steal him. 975. Two-way. Let's go, Rodriegue. Great Edmondson prospect right now, I'm pretty sure. Oh, baby. Let's steal those two. All right, let's go back to the skaters. Let's go to two-way contracts. Anybody out there? Kylian poses 36. Anybody out there? No, we don't get the same thing with the skaters. It doesn't look like. Let's scroll down. Let's scroll down. Oh, McDonald here. Aiden McDonald.

[01:09:37]

There's something. All right. We're going to try and take Aiden McDonald. 975. Vancouver is interested. So we're going to try and steal them. One year, Aiden McDonald. Yeah. Awesome. Oh, offer sheet. Yes. Hey. Vancouver. We're taking them. Offer sheet. Who said, Get Neilander's brother? Where's... Oh, Alex is right there. Alex, he's 76. He's 26, though, so he's not really getting better. Anybody else on the board here? I don't see any. Oh, here's a 24-year-old. No. No. Okay. The forward group. Oh, 23-year-old. Top six, forward, low. Is somebody interested? This is a decent one. This is potential. We're betting on potential here. Let's not waste too many contract slots, but this is good. There we go. That's good. 23-year-old top 6 potential. Oh, 24-year-old, AHL. No. All right. I think we're done there. Let's head over back to free agents, actual free agents. Any value deals on the overalls on somebody who can play wing for us? We can do like, patches on a one-year deal. I don't hate it. Sean Monahan. This makes up for the nick Paul trading. $3.2 million, $84 overall, exact same as nick Paul. Oh, my gosh. Let's just do this.

[01:11:34]

Sean Monahan. Everybody's in agreement here? Sean Monahan? This is a tidy piece of work for we move nick Paul for $3.2 million. We get back Sean Monahan, who's the exact same overall. Let's check the X factors. That's very important. The chat said it again. No X factors. Let's check the takeaways and giveaways. That was a great point as well. What am I looking for here? I guess we can't check the stats. No, that's okay. We can't check the stats from last year, but that's all right. Oh, full career stats. Oh, full career stats. Hey, here we go. A lot of giveaways last season. 50. Not the greatest. Can we compare that to... Can we compare that to play-off stats? Like 50 giveaways. But the contract is so good. 71 takeaways is a hell of a lot of takeaways, though. Yeah, I think it balances out. I think it balances out. So let's move it on back. Let's offer Sean Monahan this contract. 3.4. Two years, one way. Monahan, 71 takeaways is insane. Okay, everybody has agreed. I'm realizing the YouTube chat I get is a lot slower than the Twitch chat. The Twitch chat is so much more instant.

[01:13:25]

So I'm sorry to the YouTube chat people, you're a little delayed on feed that comes back to me as opposed to the Twitch chat, who's a little more on the money. We've actually only got 15 minutes left till Adam. This stream is flying by with the draft and everything. Oh, my gosh. That's high, YouTube. Let's get Sean Monahan signed here. Hopefully, he takes 3.4. I'm even going to stretch it 3.4 to 5. No other team's interested, so we're not bidding against anyone. That's a great deal. Let's see if there's any other great deals out there. I don't think I passed anything by that I really wanted. I want that Peshi. I want that Monahan. Let's see what else we can do. 2.4. Josh Bailey, 83 overall, $2.4 million. Two years, though. Matt Roy's, 29. Right-handed defenseman, 83. We don't We really need a 29-year-old right-hand defenseman at 83 overall. Who's this? Thomas Novak. No X factors. Two-way forward, drafted by the Preds. Stats. Played with Dallas last year. No... Oh, hold on, hold on, hold on. One game in the NHL last year. No, 10 games, two goals, two assists, or two goals, four assists, six points total.

[01:15:13]

17 in real life. In the '02, '03 season. '27. Career age, Ella, really. The numbers aren't bad. Dudes in '83 overall for $2.7 million. Andy's cheap. Andy's good. Is everybody good with Novak? Pick them up. Dep Center? So if we did Novak, that's another... We have... A lot of our centers can play wing, too, so I'm We're not too worried. But we have a lot of centers right now. If you look, Noah Gregor is a center. Mctavish is a center. We're going to have Monahan. We don't really need Novak, because if it's Matthews, McTavish, Monahan, then the fourth line is Gregor or Robertson. We're good. We need wingers So I'm going to hold off on Novak, unless we just play him on the wing, because it doesn't matter. But then the chemistry is a little off when the coach sets the lines. They were so barren right now on wings. Marner, Neylander, Holmberg, Reeves. We need those right wingers. Oh, my gosh. Wow. Right now, we just have centers playing wing in the entire organization. Oh, my gosh. Okay. So, yeah, let's try and let's solve this. Even if we swap But I'm glad Lambert, once he's good for an elite winger, that'll be a lot more helpful, because we are absolutely loaded up right now down the middle, which isn't a bad thing.

[01:17:28]

But, yeah, they can all play wing if We need them to. It's just you want the chemistry to have somewhere. So I'm going to not do a no-vac just for the sake of... We have too many guys who are strictly Cs, And we can't do that. Maybe we sim a day, see if we get what we need. Phil Kessel. Do we bring Phil Kessel back? That might be fun. Cheap contract, one year. Cory Perry. We could do that, too. Silverberg. That's an interesting one. Million dollars, 80 overall. That's a good depth forward. Coonin? Luke Coonin? 26, 80 overall. I don't hate that either. If we're doing anybody here in the '80s range, Luke Coonin is a good option. Eight years for Kessel. Fill the Thrill. Extend Marner. He's eligible. We'll check on Marner. Let's see what Marner is up to. Mitch Marner's contract extension, offer contract extension, 10.48 years is the Mitch Marner extension. The money amount doesn't change. Does he want an extension? Yes. So on this category where it says wants an extension, he says yes. So that's going to make the extension a little easier. We probably get him down to $10 million.

[01:19:15]

We could even do... I'd do 9.8. That'd be my initial offer, 9.8 to Mitch. Eight years, 9.8. We lock him up under Willy. It's not bad. 9.5 either. Let's lock him up. 9.5. Let's see if he'll take 9.5. If Mitch Marner wants 9.5, that's a good deal. Satisfied with that. That gives us some contract certainty. That gives us Mitch Marner for 9.5 forever. Offer contract. Let's see if he does it. Is everybody good? We can always wait throughout the You can wait till midway through the season, and then we can offer it to him. There's no need to rush, but we can do it. We can do it. Hey, shout out 88Lazerbeam, who just became a member of SDP VIP. Thank you. Don't wait. He might want more. Start low, then work up. This is good. Sign him now. He'll be more expensive as he pads the stats, Jessie. Re Revengers take the lead 2-0 in the series. Everybody's saying, Don't wait. All right, last thing we're going to do, we're going to solve our free agency issues next episode, which comes out on Friday. Last thing we're going to do here today as we get to 10:00 PM when Adam Wild hops on the stream, we're going to offer Mitch Marner a $9.5 million for eight years contract extension.

[01:21:24]

Shout out Daniel, who just became an SGBD. 9.5 million dollars. Mitch Marner, concernedly considering all his options, including the Zurich Lions. Let's see what he'll do. Mason McTavish, we could also resign. Oh, my gosh. This is the contract we need to do? Forget Marner, Mctavish. Let's go all eight. 5.3 million dollars. That's what we need to do. Let's figure that out next episode. Oh, my gosh. That'll be a steal. Caden Gouley. It's not as much of a steal, but it's a pretty big steal. Kam York. Not bad as well. We can lock those up in the future. Brock Faber. Brock Faber is going to be a giant steal. We're going to do eight years at $2.8 million. Okay, let's do this one immediately. Let's not even take till next stream $2.8 million for a possible top four defenseman. He wants $2.8. Does he say he wants an extension? Yes. So we're not even going to offer him $2.8. We're going to offer him $2.5. Let's get to the eight years. $2.55 million. Top four defenseman. He's going to grow into it. That's his potential. He's in 80 right now. We're going to have him locked up for the next eight years at this price.

[01:23:13]

This is Why we do these things. Let's go. All right, let's see if we can get this. We got five minutes left to go. The countdown to Adam Wild is on. Let's see if any of our free agents pick up the offered contracts. One day has passed, nothing's happened. Let's try two days. Two days has passed, nothing's happened. I don't want to go too far. I don't want to go too far just in case there's some free agents we should offer more contracts to. We might miss out. I'm so nervous. A winger. Somebody suggested David Peron, $4.6 million. It's a little too much. William Carrier? Might be good. We definitely need another winger. I'm thinking Carrier, 2.3. We can go up to Josh Bailey. He's 34, though. I don't like that. Yurianoff is 27, 3.9. Jason Zucker is 3.4, 32, and 83 overall. I'll probably think the drop in overall, get an 82 overall, William Carrier. Any objections? Oh, Warren Fogel. Remember, this is video game Warren Fogel, not real-life Warren Fogel. We go 1.6, 81 overall, one year. Beauty. You load up. You sign him one year. I like this. Let's do this. We'll offer him 1.7, one year.

[01:25:13]

Let's try it. Done. There's a left winger. Mike Hoffman as well as 8.81, $1.5 million. Adam Wild is in the chat. Adam Wild is getting ready to come on in three minutes. I think we got something here. Mike Hoffman can play both wings. 81 overall. Nine goals, 10 assists. Not great. Zack Parise last year, two goals, one assist. It wasn't in the lineup. Who keeps suggesting David Peron? Is that Alan Walsh? That Ryko 31-31 is loving David Peron. 23 goals, 42 assists last season. Second line forward. The 4.1 is scaring me. That's what I don't want to do. The 4.2 million is... That's not it for me. I think that's... Right now, we're good on the offered contracts. One more day, we're going to see if Mitch signs. We're going to see if we get Brock Faber signed. Any free agent, Sean Monahan. Declined trade. What do we got? Nothing else. All right. That's it. We're waiting till next episode. I'm not stemming another day. One-year rental. Everybody wants David Peron. Everybody wants David Peron. Next episode, we're finding out who we're signing. We're two minutes till Adam hops on. That's it. We got to wait.

[01:27:03]
